English 101 - College Reading & Composition I

English 101 is a reading and composition course designed to prepare students to handle a wide range of college writing assignments and to acquire the analytic skills necessary for effective academic preparation. Stress is placed on the organization and composition of objective expository and argumentative essays, including the research paper.

Tutorials [Self-Paced]

Complete the four tutorials listed below by Friday, May 31st

  1. Do the tutorial
  2. Input your student and course info on the final slide of the tutorial
  3. Click, Submit to earn course credit

Search Strategies

 

Use the tabbed box at the top of the library website homepage to begin your search. 

 

OneSearch Tab

Use OneSearch to locate various types of resources

  1. Type your search term in the box then click, Search. 
  2. Use the Refine Results menu on the left side of the search results page to narrow or expand your search.
    • Available at LAHC and Resource Type will be the most helpful in the beginning stages of your research.
    • There are many additional options listed for Resource Type that are not shown in the image below.
  3. Click Apply Filters to confirm your choices and update the search results.

 

 

Databases Tab

  • Use the drop down field to select a database by name if you already know which one you want to use. 
  • Click Library Database A-Z List to view the list of descriptions.

View the list by doing the following:

  1. Navigate to the library database Issues & Controversies
  2. Locate the Featured Resources section on the right side of the homepage
  3. Click on, All Issues A-Z
  4. Browse topics to generate ideas
