History 087 - World Civilizations - 1500 - Present

It is a survey course focusing on historical development of selected areas of the world from the 16th Century to the present. Emphasis is placed on analysis and the impact of industrialization, East-West interaction and the rise of nationalism. It meets the following aspects of global and multicultural perspectives:

  1. Large-scale analysis of human development and change over time;
  2. The development of human societies and their cultural traditions through time in different regions;
  3. A broad integrated analysis of cultural, economic, political, scientific, and/or social development that recognizes the diversity of human societies and their cultural traditions;
  4. Cross-cultural interaction and exchange linking peoples through time;
  5. Study and analysis of writing, narratives, texts, artifacts, and/or practices that represent the perspectives of different societies and cultural traditions.

This course meets the California State University requirements for World History (3 units).

  1. Type your search term in the box then click, Search. 
  2. Use the Refine Results menu on the left side of the search results page to narrow or expand your search.
    • Available at LAHC and Resource Type will be the most helpful in the beginning stages of your research.
    • There are many additional options listed for Resource Type that are not shown in the image below.
  3. Click Apply Filters to confirm your choices and update the search results.

      • Once viewing the A-Z list, browse or use the By Subject drop down field
